The Spring & Summer 2012 Catalog
Dress hats for men in spring and summer styles are predominantly made of straw. You'll find sophisticated hats like The Montecristi Pinch Front, a dress panama hat from Biltmore of Canada. The superb fedora has a somewhat narrow two inch brim, a handsome grosgrain trim with bow and there's a leather sweatband for wearer comfort. There's a dress hat from

Stetson called The Oswego that's proving extremely popular this season. It's a "C" crown pinch front fedora (with a snap brim) made from an exceptional 1 X 1 Japanese Bu Shantung woven body. Stetson also produced a very limited number of a luxurious dress straw hat called The Rantoul. The weave is very tight, giving it a linen-like feel, yet the hat itself is lightweight for summer wear.
New from the Spring/Summer 2012 Santana by Carlos Santana collection of men's dress hats is a little something called The Caravanserai. The striking dress fedora is made from a premium quality paper braid called shantung and features hand painted stitching, a three-pleat rayon band, leather piping and an Abraxas Angel pin. The brim (just stingy at two inches) is bound. If it's a very stingy brim dress hat you want, though, take a look at the Dobbs Cabolito, a slightly ventilated shantung hat, made in the U.S.A., with a 1 3/4 inch brim and trimmed with grosgrain band--with bow--and pin.
A couple of perennial favorite dress hats are The Classic Panama, a fedora from Biltmore that's true to tradition, and The Montecristi, another dress Panama hat from Biltmore, blocked in the pork pie style. Classic dress cowboy hats from Stetson (think The Open Road) are cool and lightweight in linen-like straw while Dobbs Hats gets pretty edgy with lids including The Harvey (love the copper shade), and a fedora called The Parker. More perfection comes your way with Christys' Elegante, a finely woven Grade 20 bleached safari-style dress Panama hat.
There's more, you know. For a very different look in Milan braid, take a gander at The Tehachapi Loop, an updated pinch front fedora made in the U.S.A. by Stetson, with a bound edge snap brim. Stacy Adams will do you proud too with The New Orleans, a two-tone men's dress hat so popular last season, it's making another appearance. A new favorite of mine is a Biltmore hat called The Torino. A pinch front fedora, it's made from Torino straw which is lighter in weight than Milan braid, so you know how comfortable it'll be on a hot summer night. Another Biltmore creation, The Guelph by name, is a pork pie hat in Milan braid, and you won't believe how great the colors are -- but you may have trouble choosing which one to order!
